VG: What is your main thrust for early pace of development?
AG: The lack of road connectivity is one of the major infrastructural deficiencies in the remote districts. So, my main thrust is the improvement in connectivity will help increase government out-reach to people living in remote areas, adding that availability of services would help in enhancing agricultural incomes and employment opportunities.
Enjoining upon officers to work with utmost dedication and in coordinated manner, I have asked all concerned authorities to ensure that the works are completed within stipulated time frame and ensure that no compromise are made on quality of materials being used during the execution process.
Meanwhile, under the Prime Ministers Reconstruction Programme (PMRP), 9 major bridges have been taken up for construction involving an amount of Rs 34.51 crore out of which 7 bridges have been completed and work on rest two bridges are in progress.
VG: Despite being a minister as well as the MLA from Kalakote, the constituency lacks basic facilities, why?
AG: It is true that Kalakote was very underdeveloped constituency, but it was the responsibility of previous MLA, who failed to initiate any development work in that constituency.
When people elected me as their MLA, many development activities has been started in my constituency. However, it was for the first time that many development projects were started in my constituency.
Now, when I am a cabinet Minister as well as the MLA from this constituency, it is my duty to make this constituency a developed, so that I can fulfill the promises, which I made with the people at the time of elections.
VS: What are your main achievements as being a cabinet minister?
AG: As being a cabinet minister, my main thrust is to provide employment to more and more educated youth and in this regard I have asked the department to make more Fish Farms and poultry farms.
This is best way to provide more employment opportunities to youth, as they can earn a handsome amount by adopting new means of employment.
VG: Drug addiction is a serious issue, what is your take?
AG: Really, drug addiction is a serious evil impacting our society. We are coming to know through various studies that this dangerous phenomenon is showing an abnormal increase.
There is an immediate need to control this menace. However it is also the responsibility of people to inform police about such cases, so that the timely action could be taken against the persons, who are trying to push more and more youth into this trade.
